Evolved into a whorl, dead right for Me - my home, my world: my everything - It serves to save my flesh: preserve from gnaw Of noxious beast, that satiate would fling My shell away, its purpose done, then sleep A while and dream of how, so skeletal In inner support, unseen things creep To feed on it, falling like a petal But feeding like hogs on meat that they'd fell Upon, so haply unprotected. Teeth Tear away that meat from bone, like a thief Pulls beauty from its bed. None left to tell, Peal it out across the land like church bell, How much better to live in my hard shell.
Nice!
