If you could have something named after you, what would it be?

So often you have a dream and many people are proven to have got therefore before you. There is a Bamlett House in Thirsk, possibly related to the real estate ‘mogul’, Jason Bamlett. However, being in Thirsk it’s almost certainly linked to the agricultural and other motor products of the old firm of Bamlett, created first by Adam Carlisle Bamlett.

As far as I know I have no family connection to these people and I can’t even work out, or don’t have the will to research, whether they are related to each other; but there you go. The nature of names is that that they are far from unique and always have history and are designated ‘your’ name only by convention of the translation of biological descent from parents to offspring by some social convention, especially in marriage but by the cultural doem roo of family naming you live under. Do we own anything? Maybe a tractor seat is enough! Should we want to own anything and have a name we consider ours emblazoned upon it.

With love
