‘So cool that it was mint’ but you can’t EVER keep it.

What’s the coolest thing you’ve ever found (and kept)?

So cool that it was mint
When found, my hand lost warmth,
Until in sharing heat
The feel of it was hot.

Nothing ever will keep
Its cool so long without
Some cold sad heart to seep
Its freezing thought into
Mutual desire,and
Leave it at last alone.

The temperature of love
Will never be its test.
It varies like the rest
Of life's new lands new found.
It will not brook its changes
To be ever frozen
By anyone, ranges
Of difference it needs,
Its own newness proven
By feeling fresh new ground
In which it can sow seeds.

With love
