The City of God

How would you design the city of the future?

Augustine conceived a city of God

Whose main pleasure was to view the torment

Of the damned in Hell. Most cities since

Replicate that idea, the many

By the privileged few, are now downtrod

In the city itself, long hours are spent

Draining  life out of labour, to then rinse

The blood from flesh, a shining new penny

Of profit for that’s the few’s finest kind

Of fun these days. Cleanse their sordid mind

And they’d see, a city such as a bee

Imagined. Once God built a garden free

Of lucrative sin. And if a city

Could also be a garden there we’d be.

Love

Steven
