Dear Richard Holden MP,

As your constituents I want to express in the strongest terms possible my objection to a  senior Party official from your Party breaking the lockdown rules by travelling while infected by Coronavirus from London to a separate household in Durham.

Although Durham city is not in your constituency, it is a visit by a member of your Party responsible for lockdown rules and they, in all probability, crossed or stayed in your and our constituency boundaries. Durham is also our local city independent of constituency boundaries. I understand Durham Constabulary are investigating an alleged trip to Barnard Castle (in Bishop Auckland constituency) during which people were put at risk by travel that may have been illegal and was certainly a risk to the health and safety of others.

I very strongly urge you to ask the prime Minister to support the fight against Coronavirus and make it clear that no-one should be so failing to ‘Be Alert’ as to do the things Dominic Cummings did, whether they be the initial trip or any of the alleged malpractices discussed in the media.

You are a new Tory MP. I have never voted Tory and never will but you are being approached here as someone concerned about the health of myself, my husband, and friends. the two former mentioned are both in high risk categories. My expectations of a meanigful reply are not therefore high.

I am hoping that on this occasion, you will speak as a human being and act as someone concerned for the good name of your Party and Government and not make policing Government rules by concluding that it is OK to act by parental or family instinct. Indeed it is because people have had to rein in such instincts that the extremity of Dominic Cummings behaviour is seen.

I await your early reply.

Steve
